A printmaking lecture and workshop, "Printmaking in the Sun," with master printmaker Dan Welden, will be held at Northampton Community College (NCC) on Tuesday, September 6 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the College's Kiva building on Main Campus.
The lecture, from 11:00 AM - 12:00 p.m. at the KIVA building, will be followed by a hands-on workshop from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., in Commonwealth Hall, room 112. Prior art experience is not essential for participation in the workshop.
In addition to being a printmaker, Welden is the inventor of the solar plate process, a painter, teacher and author. He has been making prints and works on paper for over 40 years. His work has been shown in over 65 international solo exhibitions in museums and galleries and over 500 group exhibitions in the U.S., Europe, China, Australia, New Zealand and Peru. Dan has inspired artists, teachers and students around the world with lectures and workshops demonstrating this innovative art making process. Topics to be covered include solar plates print intaglio, relief, and photographic processes using safe, green methods of etching without the use of acids or other dangerous chemicals used in traditional techniques.
