Obituary: Charles F. Diehl, 89, of Pleasant Valley

Charles F. Diehl died Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the VNA Hospice House of St. Luke's in Lower Saucon Township.

Charles F. Diehl, 89, of Pleasant Valley, Springfield Township, died Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the , Lower Saucon Township. He was the husband of the late Erma I. (Quier) Diehl, who died Oct. 15, 2001. He was born in Springtown on Nov. 20, 1922 to the late Horace C. and Florence (Moyer) Diehl. Charles had owned and operated Charles F. Diehl Excavating in Pleasant Valley since 1973. He had also owned and operated Pleasant Valley Oil and Heating from 1971 to 1986. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Pleasant Valley. Charles was a Springfield Township supervisor for 12 years during the 1960s, and a past president and current caretaker of the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Company. 

Survivors:

Loving son: Leroy W. (Diann L.) Diehl of Cooperburg; sister: Flora Bodder of Perkasie; two grandsons: Gregory L. (Carol) and Wayne A. (Lisa) Diehl; and a great-grandson: Wyatt L. He was predeceased by a son, Chester C. Diehl, in 1972, and by a brother, Howard M. Diehl, in 2001.

Service:

Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11am Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Pleasant Valley. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 11am with the Rev. Donna Wright officiating. The interment will conclude services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Springfield Township.
