One Little Word

In 2011 I had heard of a blog which was hosting a 'word for the year' activity where anyone could choose an inspirational word and work on it for an entire year. They could post why they chose this word, how far they have come and get inspiration from the other bloggers. I thought this was an awesome idea not just for me but for everyone I knew.

That year I had decided to chose the word patience. Not only was I not where I wanted to be in life but I also felt like I need to rush to get there, wherever that was. In that year I had learned so much about myself and about Divine timing. It made me also be more patient with others and also on the road. It was the perfect word for me and I do believe I have mastered it. I know things happen as they are meant to and I am always right where I am supposed to be at every moment.

Near the end of 2011, my spiritual journey really started to pick up speed. I was taking classes, workshops, reading, meditating, attending Mind, Body and Spirit conventions and realizing that working with Spirit was my life purpose. The word trust kept coming up because during workshops we needed to pair up with a partner that we didn't know and try to read their energy. I had NO idea I could actually do this. The woman I was reading told me to close my eyes and trust whatever came to me. Once I told her all I saw, she smiled and said, "That was very good!" I almost didn't believe her...LOL! But that isn't the only reason I had to trust. I had to trust myself. I had to trust that I was on the right path and this was going to work out for me. Not knowing how, I did put all of my trust in a Higher Power to lead me to where I needed to be the entire year of 2012. Trusting others comes easy for me so that was never an issue. And I have learned that the reason for that is because I CAN read other people's energy. In fact, I have been since I was a child but I never knew it. Mastering the word trust I moved on to 2013.

Being a spiritual person and really trying to follow in God's ways, I knew that my next word was going to be love. I want to try my best to love as God loves. And who better to turn to than Jesus? Watching The Bible series was absolutely an amazing experience for both my boyfriend and I. Seeing Jesus with all the love and compassion even towards those who didn't understand him just made me realize even more so that this is how we as humans are supposed to live. Now will I have mastered love in one year? Oh heck no! That word I believe is a word so broad that it could take a lifetime to learn. Self-love alone takes years for people to learn. I am definitely in a much better place than I was 10 years ago with that. But now it is time to learn to love and accept others as they are, not the way I want them to be. And I know that I have come a long way with that too.

As far as 2014, I am not sure what my word will be. It won't be long before it comes to me.

If this is something you may be interested in, you can do this on your own or join me on facebook. I have two closed groups; Heal Your Life (which is mostly for those who are local) and Love Yourself and You"ll Heal Your Life (which is for anyone). Come December we will start working on choosing our word. Starting January 1st we will look up quotes, meanings, books, and so on to help each other work on our words. It is fun and very helpful as a community of inspiring people who are all trying to live a more positive life.

Here are a list of words in which you can start pondering for 2014:
