The Power of Prayer

I'm not sure how many people realize that the power of prayer is an amazing thing. I have personally witness miracles as well as turned my own life around using the power of prayer.

During my years of depression, anxiety, and PTSD I prayed out of desperation. Those who suffer from depression feel as though they lack so much in their lives. I felt lost, confused and unloved. What I didn't realize is that the power of prayer doesn't work as well when we pray out of desperation and lack. It isn't that God doesn't hear our prayers. I feel it is more as if God hears our prayers more loud and clearly when we pray out of love and gratitude.

When I had gotten to the point of wanting to turn my life around and refusing to believe that depression was going to be the way of life for me, I started changing the way I said my prayers. What I noticed was that my life started changing for the better and almost instantly. Thanking God for what I did have made me realize that I was not as bad off as I thought I was. Yes, I continued to give Him my worries and fears and I did ask that he take some burdens away from me but it was out of gratitude and the faith knowing that He would.

Looking back I realized during my darker days that I had been lacking faith and hope. I didn't feel deserving of a better life. In fact, I would blame God for the life that I despised. Now, I realize that we have a choice on how we are going to handle things. We have the choice to follow God or not. I wasn't interested in anything that had to do with God at one point in my life and that is when I suffered most. Evil creates the bad in this life and I believe it is during those times when God really wants us to turn to Him.

Almost every night I pray to God and thank Him for helping me turn my life around. I thank Him for teaching me how to pray, how to be a better person, how to love others as He loves, and for bringing me to this place of love and light. I thank him for my health, the roof over my head, and for all the good he has bestowed upon my life. If there is anything I ask for it is protection and good health for my loved ones and myself, a way to spread His love to others and be of service, and for Him to spread love and light all over the world.

Try changing your prayers. When we use gratitude having faith and hope, our prayers are answered. Maybe not right away and maybe not in the way we were hoping but in a way that is suitable for our journey.

Prayers and many blessings!
Amy
