Township Adopts Stray Animal Policy

Lower Saucon Township will respond to animal complaint calls as follows:

• If the complaint involves a deceased or terminally injured wild animal, Township police officers will destroy the animal. For other wild animals, the Northampton County Game Warden will be notified. 
• If a stray dog is seized by Township police officers, the animal will be transported to the Center for Animal Health & Welfare in Easton, PA by the responding police officer. 
• If a sick/injured dog is involved, the Center will be called to pick up and transport the animal. 
• Stray cat(s) will not be picked up by the Township. If the complaint call involves a stray cat(s), the responding officer will provide information (see below) to the resident about the Trap–Neuter–Return Program for stray cat(s).

Information for Residents about the Trap–Neuter–Return Program

• Residents who have stray cat(s) on their property are responsible for trapping and transporting the cat(s) for spaying or neutering and then returning the cat(s) to its colony.
• Residents can contact No Nonsense Neutering, 1044 N. Quebec Street, Allentown, PA or 1-866-820-2510 and arrange to obtain a trap (a $20 refundable deposit is required). Loaner traps are available for two weeks and trapping instructions are provided. If no traps are available at No Nonsense Neutering, the resident can borrow a trap, if one is available, from the Township.
• Spaying/Neutering clinics at No Nonsense Neutering are held at the following locations: 1044 N. Quebec Street, Allentown, PA 18109 (Every Tuesday & Friday and 2nd & 4th Sundays); 60 Reservoir Road, Quakertown, PA 18951 (2nd & 4th Sundays); 1500 Frush Valley Road, Reading, PA 19605 (Wednesdays & Fridays and 1st & 3rd Sundays).
• Participants may walk into the clinics with one cat. Appointments are needed for multiple cats.
• No Nonsense Neutering examines the cat, provides vaccinations and spays or neuters the cat. This is a same day, spay-neuter surgery clinic.
• The $35 cost of this service is paid for by the resident (cash only).
