Shooting, Death In Horsham Township Prompt Police Statement

Horsham Township Police said they wanted to clear up misinformation regarding the two incidents last week.

HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —The Horsham Township Police Department is explaining the causes of two incidents over the past week, one involving a fatality.

Police Chief Scott Fida issued a statement in an effort "to address some speculation and misinformation" regarding two recent incidents last week.

In both incidents, police said the public was never at risk.

On July 27th at 6:39 p.m., Horsham police officers responded to a home on Edgewood Avenue.

Police discovered the body of a man who had taken his own life. Police said the incident is a private family matter and that no other information will be released at this time.

On July 28, at 2:34 p.m., fire personnel and police responded to the 600 block of Easton Road for a man who had accidentally shot himself at Clayton’s Hunting and Fishing.

Police said the man sustained a non-life-threatening injury to his hand. No more information is being released about the incident, police said.

"Rest assured that the Horsham Township Police Department remains steadfastly committed to
the safety and well-being of all those who live, work, and play in our community," the police statement concluded.
