5-Year Tentative Police Contract Approved By Horsham Township Council
Horsham Police officers will receive pay raises ranging from 3.25 to 5 percent. Officers will also have to submit to drug and alcohol tests.

HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —The Horsham Township Police Department has a tentative five-year new deal.
At its meeting last week, the Township Council unanimously approved a new five-year contract with the Police Benevolent Association.
While the tentative agreement gives police raises over the life of the contract, it’s also a win for the township, Township Manager Bill Walker said.

The contract calls for pay increases of 5 percent in the first year, 4.2 percent in the second, 4 percent in the third year, 3.5 percent in the fourth year and and 3.25 percent in the final year.
The starting salary for a patrol officer in 2023 will be $64,615. The contract ends on Dec. 31, 2027.

Walker said the township has been negotiating the contract with the PBA since January.
For the township, it’s a win regarding health care.
Walker said the township will have a “huge savings” over five years due to switching health care plans to a Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO) plan instead of an HMO.
Another change is drug and alcohol testing for uniformed officers, Walker said.
