6 New Teachers Joining Hatboro-Horsham Schools

HATBORO / HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —Six new teachers are joining the Hatboro-Horsham School District for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year.

The Hatboro-Horsham School Board announced the hiring of the teachers at its July 24 meeting.

The teachers are:

• Blaise Yaksick (elementary)
• Christopher Hoffner (special education, Crooked Billet)
• Chelsey Steele (special education, Blair Mill)
• Taylor Witchey (elementary, Hallowell)
• Ann Masters (English, Keith Valley)
• Jennifer Schmehl (mathematics, Keith Valley)

Meanwhile, the school district is also changing some other posts.

Schools Superintendent Scott Eveslage also acknowledged that Brea D’Angelo will now serve as director of special projects and systems. D’Angelo had served as supervisor of curriculum.

The school district also announced that Christine Jenkins will serve as supervisor of curriculum on assignment for the 2023-24 school year.

The district is losing one teacher after three decades.

Keith Valley Middle School music teacher James Verdeur has retired after 30 years. School officials offered him best wishes.

In other school business:

Eveslage urged eligible residents to apply for tax rebate programs that could get them up to 50 percent back on their taxes. To qualify, applicants must have completed and received a refund from the Pennsylvania Property Tax and Rent Rebate Program.

Applicants must have a household income of no more than $35,000 annually, be 65 years of age or older, be a widow or widower aged 50 years of age or older, or be permanently disabled and 18 years of age or older.

The school board's next meeting is Aug. 21.
