9/11 Memorial Flag Flying In Hatboro For 25th Anniversary

HATBORO, PA — The borough is waving the flag.

State Rep. Nancy Guenst — a military veteran — donated a 9/11 memorial flag to the borough for use during the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on America,

The flag is being displayed at the Cressbrook property on York Road in honor of the victims, first responders, and all who were impacted by the events of 9/11.

"As we approach the anniversary of Sept. 11, our nation will once again come together to remember the lives lost and the bravery shown on that tragic day," borough officials said. "We invite residents to join us in remembering those we lost and reflecting on the unity and resilience that emerged from one of the darkest days in our nation's history. We will never forget."

On Sept. 11, 2001, 19 al-Qaida terrorists hijacked four airplanes, flying two into New York City's World Trade Center and one into the Pentagon. Passengers fought back on the fourth, United Flight 93, which crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The deadliest U.S. terror attack killed 2,977 victims.

While larger observances will be held at the three sites in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, attacked 25 years ago, YOURSTATE events include the following:

The toll has continued to grow. Thousands of survivors, first responders and people who lived, worked or attended school near the attack sites have developed cancers and other illnesses linked to toxic exposure during the rescue, recovery and cleanup.
