Deputy Police Chief Retires In Horsham

HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — The township said goodbye on Friday to Deputy Police Chief Adam Dunning.

After 27 years of dedicated service to the community, Dunning turned in his badge and retired on Friday.

.Dunning was appointed as deputy police chief in January 2023 after being promoted from lieutenant.

Dunning began his police career as a dispatcher in 1997. Since then, he's moved up the ranks, being hired as a police officer in 2000.

Dunning is one of only two Horsham Police Officers to have been awarded a commendation for valor after being fired upon by a man with a gun. He and his partner returned fire and were able to take the suspect into custody after the suspect sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot.

During his time as a patrol officer, Dunning spent 2.5 years assigned to the traffic unit. In 2011, Dunning was promoted to detective and then sergeant of the detectives unit in 2018.

He's also served in the department as a crash reconstructionist, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force member, and a Montgomery County Narcotics task force member.

Dunning is married to his wife Tiffany and has two grown sons, one of who is serving in the U.S. Air Force.
