HATBORO, PA — Ariella's Kids Exchange has closed its North York Road location after operating for three years in the borough.
The consignment shop announced its closure with a "Going Out Of Business" sale in December, but hung on for another five months to reduce its inventory.
"Thank you to all of our customers. We enjoyed being a part of Hatboro for three years. We got to know a lot of people on a personal level and enjoyed deep conversations, great laughs and even some tears," Owners Cathy Lazauskas and her husband, Michael Weldon, posted on Facebook. "We are sad that our time here was cut short, but we are optimistic that our next chapter may be the best yet."
The business — whose name was inspired by their daughter — closed on May 30.
Lazauskas told Patch in July 2023 that the couple started thinking about opening a storefront before the pandemic hit.
She said that 80 percent of the stock is used or gently-used clothing and that the shop checks for stains and rips. She said the business accepts clothing that's a decade old. The shop also offered puzzles, baby goods, beach hats, and bathing suits, besides toys.
