Phase II Of Blair Mill Road Project Fees Paid

Horsham Township Council approved spending over $200,000 in engineering services for the two-year project.

HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — The township is paying the engineer for services involving Phase 2 of the Blair Mill Road improvement project.

At its meeting last week, the Horsham Township Council voted unanimously to pay $237,909 to Michael Baker International for supplemental engineering services for Phase 2 of the project.

The funds come from a state grant.

Phase II of the Blair Mill Road Safety Improvements and Widening project calls for widening Blair Mill Road to five lanes from Welsh Road to Easton Road.

Phase II is an $8.5 million endeavor made possible through funding from Horsham Township, a PennDOT Multimodal State Grant, and a Military Installation Remediation and Infrastructure Authority grant.

Phase II is a two-year project with utility relocations in the first year and road improvements in the second year, concentrated on Blair Mill Road, Witmer Road, and the Commerce Avenue intersection, township officials said.

Phase I involved the closing off of New Road with the CVS, Wawa, and PJ Whelihans Project.

In other township council business:

The council held a hearing on a conditional use application from the Roseve Corporation for rain gardens, a retention basin and a sanitary sewer line in the riparian corridor for a small residential development at 1026 Limekiln Pike.

Four properties on the 6.6 acre property will be combined and then subdivided into three properties.

The council also voted to consider an ordinance amending the township code that would provide a new subsection for the solicitation and award of public contracts in the township.

The public hearing on the proposed ordinance will be held Sept. 23. The votes to approve by 5-0.
