The longtime Hatboro business is expanding its community outreach after being taken over by new owners with ice cream and movies.

HATBORO BOROUGH, PA — Tara and George Tsaketas took over Silvio's Deli in February 2025.

The popular deli at 100 North York Road had already carved out a reputation for its hoagies, pizza, and other savory sandwiches and meals.

But Tara and George wanted to do something more — and maybe even something different for a local business.

First came the ice cream, which led to a name extension to Silvio's Deli and Ice Cream. And now has come the movies.

"We have really been trying to make it more than just a deli," Tara told Patch this week. "Between opening our ice cream shop, hosting movie nights, fundraisers, and getting involved with other local events, being part of the Hatboro community has become a huge part of what we do."

On Tuesday, Silvio's Deli will be hosting another free community movie night, featuring actor Jack Black in "School of Rock."

This movie night is sponsored by Action Karate Horsham and Lemek Automotive/Lemek Recovery.

The movie starts at dusk. The parking lot will be closed early for families to set up with blankets and chairs. They grab dinner at Silvio's beforehand and grab a movie-themed ice cream during the show.

The community effort isn't stopping there.

Silvio's Deli is teaming up with Sprinkle Hope to collect school supplies for local borough schools and students.

There is a donation box inside Silvio's through the end of August, and supplies will be collected at movie night as well, Tara said.

"We're big on family, and there's just something special about everyone getting together for dinner and a movie," Tsaketas said. "It almost feels like we have one big family coming over for the night."

Tara said she grew up going to movie nights at her swim club.

"They're still some of my favorite memories, so we wanted to bring that same feeling to Silvio's to create core memories for the community," she said.

"This time, we teamed up with Sprinkle Hope to collect school supplies for local families, and 'School of Rock' felt like the perfect way to bring in those Back-to-School vibes," she added. "If we can have a fun night together and help local kids at the same time, why not?"
