Communities in Bucks and Montgomery counties are mourning the loss of two teenagers killed in a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike on Sunday.
GoFundMe pages have been launched to support the families of 16-year-old Dominic Fenton of Hatboro and 19-year-old Josh Ritsky of Warminster Township.
The two teenagers were killed after a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike in Cranbury on Sunday morning, the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office and New Jersey State Police said.
Four others were hospitalized in the crash that took place at 5:06 a.m. on Sunday in the southbound outer lanes of the Turnpike, authorities said Monday.
"Why did you have to leave us so soon my beautiful son," his father Joey Fenton Jr. posted on Facebook. "Our lives will never be the same again without you."
A GoFundMe page, launched by Stefanie Keenan, has raised over $33,000 of its $35,000 goal for the Fenton family.
"There are simply no words to express the pain of losing someone so young, so loved, and with so much life ahead of him," Keenan said.
Authorities have yet to officially release the identities of the two victims, but numerous posts on social media are mourning their loss.
Keenan also established a GoFundMe page for Ritsky. That page has raised over $24,000 of its $5,000 goal.
"Josh was an outstanding young man with a one-of-a-kind mindset and a heart that was just as big as his dreams," Keenan said. "At only 19 years old, he was one of the hardest-working people you could ever meet. He had a drive, determination, and outlook on life that set him apart from everyone else. He was the kind of person who always pushed forward, showed up for the people he loved, and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him."
Keenan said that Fenton was a young man who loved his friends and family deeply.
He enjoyed playing basketball at the park, intense Xbox gaming sessions, watching history documentaries, and cheering on his Philadelphia sports teams.
She said Fenton was fiercely loyal to his friends, quick-witted, and always ready with a joke or a comment that could put a smile on someone's face.
"He had a way of bringing laughter and joy to the people around him, and his presence will be deeply missed by everyone fortunate enough to know and love him," Keenan said.
Kennan said the fundraiser will help ease the family's burden with funeral expenses.
"No family should ever have to experience this kind of heartbreak. While we cannot take away their pain, we can surround Dominic's family with love, compassion, and support when they need it most," she said.
Patch has reached out to Hatboro-Horsham school officials seeking an official statement regarding Fenton's death and the school district's plans to deal with it.
"Forever loved. Forever missed. Never forgotten," the fundraiser read. "Long Live Dominic."
Keenan said that Ritsky was more than just a friend.
"He was a brother, a son, and an incredible human being who meant the world to so many an incredible human being who meant the world to so many people," she said. "He was the person you could turn to when life got hard, the person who would listen when you needed to get things off your chest, and the person who reminded you what it meant to have someone truly in your corner."
