HATBORO / HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — The Hatboro-Horsham School Board heard details of what the 2027-2028 spending plan would look like for the district at its meeting on Monday night.

Bill Stone, the school district's director of business affairs, told the school board that spending for the next school year is likely to surpass $140 million.

Meanwhile, the school board voted 7-0 to limit any tax increases to fund the budget to at or below the Act 1 Index, which has been set at 3.5 percent.

Stone said that salaries and benefits account for 68 percent of the new budget.

Local funding supports 77 percent of the budget with the state pitching in 20 percent, the federal government 1 percent, and district reserving 2 percent, Stone said in his presentation.

Stone said the district's reserve fund stands at just over $30 million, which accounts for 22 percent of the district's revenue.

The district will have to deal once again with inflation, and 23 commercial tax appeals that could lower the assessments and the taxes for the properties, Stone said.
