Donna Mulvaney Joins Lakeside School’s Intensive Support Program

Donna Mulvaney, of Yardley, PA, has joined Lakeside Educational Network as a special education teacher for Lakeside School’s Intensive Support Program.

“Donna is a creative and conscientious teacher,” says Caroline Smith, supervisor of Special Education Services for Lakeside School. “She brings a wealth of knowledge from her experiences working with students who have autism. She provides her students with a balance of both nurture and structure. We are excited to have her as part of our special education team.”

Lakeside School’s Intensive Support Program accepts special education students in grades 9-12 who have needs on the Autism spectrum or students not on the spectrum who have similar needs. The program provides a small, structured and nurturing therapeutic environment where academic success is a priority.

“My new colleagues & supervisors are wonderfully supportive,” says Mulvaney. “There is a great balance between accountability & grace for the students as well as for staff.  I felt comfortable - like part of the team - very quickly.  I also love being part of the Intensive Support program.”

Mulvaney earned her bachelor’s degree of fine arts from Kent State University, Kent, Ohio. She then earned her master’s degree in education from Neumann University, Aston, PA.

Prior to joining Lakeside School, Mulvaney worked at the Bucks County Intermediate Unit, Central Bucks School District, and Pennsbury School District.

Lakeside Educational Network, a long-standing nonprofit serving the needs of over 1500 students annually throughout southeastern Pennsylvania, provides a range of therapeutic educational programs and services. Lakeside’s approach empowers students to realize their life goals and to become positive citizens in their communities. The scope of its programs includes special education and services for behavioral and clinical issues such as truancy, ungovernability, addictions and crisis pregnancy.
