Hatboro's Monarch Waystation at Miller Meadow

Monarch Waystation Progress Report

A big THANK YOU to Scout Troop 3, for helping us turn the soil in the Monarch Waystation being created at Miller Meadow. It was hard work digging out four inches of hard, rocky soil in all three beds, and they worked cheerfully and diligently. Thanks to Scoutmaster Bob John for making this
happen!

The garden frames were built by Bruce Leaycraft, with the
Gardeners of Crooked Billet paying for the wood. Advice, direction, encouragement and expert knowledge were provided by a local Monarch enthusiast – couldn’t have done it without her!

Thanks also go to Mark Sheedy and Dave Rich (and the entire Hatboro Council) for getting this project approved.

Our next step is to accept the Hatboro Cemetery’s
generous offer to deliver some better soil; followed by a delivery of mulch from Terwood Road (thanks to Fred Zollers, of Public Works, for helping us with this).

Planting will begin in May, and we’ll be registering our
Waystation with http://www.monarchwatch.org

Let’s all think RAIN!
We sure need it for our gardens….
