Bad company

Boys in baggy pants hang out after dark
In parking lots of convenience stores
Smoking and joking and talking trash
Rude and crude, their bad attitude
On display, like their red and green plaid boxers
Just to show that they don't care
They scorn authority
Don't respect seniority
Think that they're original, trendsetters
More like bed wetters
Don't care what their betters think
Or if they stink
Occasionally, one of them feels he must 
Adjust the brim of his cap
So that it faces sideways instead of backwards
A little more jaunty, perhaps
But to the left or to the right?
One side is cool, the other means you're a fool
Maybe majority rule
Will figure out which
'Til then, they continue to switch
They fix me with a group stare
As I dare pass by where they're collected
Maybe rejected, but definitely not dejected
When I walk away
I hear their leader say
"Dude, we are the future."

And I'm afraid he's right.
