HATBORO, PA — Efforts to create a police-dog unit in Hatboro are ramping up, with several fundraisers to help the cause coming up.
The Hatboro Police Department, Elm Street Hatboro and Hatboro Federal Bank are raising funds to help bankroll the K9 unit. On Friday, they announced one upcoming event at which the public can help the cause, and enjoy a tasty beer in the process.
The first event is set for Saturday, Jan. 12, at Crooked Eye Brewery, at 13 E. Montgomery Ave. in Hatboro. The brewery has created a new beer called "K9 #59." That name is in honor of Louie, a canine Hatboro officials are hoping to make their first four-legged officer.
