Block Party For Hatboro's Lochel's Bakery: The Sweetest Bakery In America
Lochel's Bakery defeated more than 1,400 bakeries to win the national contest. Now they're inviting the Hatboro area to celebrate.

HATBORO, PA — By now you know: Hatboro's Lochel's Bakery has won the national contest and been named the Sweetest Bakery in America.
Their victory came after five months of online voting. They defeated more than 1,400 bakeries nationwide to win the contest.
A celebration will be held by Dawn Foods, the competition's sponsor, at the bakery on Saturday, Oct. 14. It coincides with Lochel's 75th anniversary.

The celebration will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 57 S. York Road. Food, family activities, music, and giveaways will highlight the day. The rough outline for Saturday is as follows:
- DJ from 11 to 3
- Donut eating contest at noon
- Spin the wheel for Lochel prizes (shirts, pens, clips, coffee cup, shirts, etc.)
- Coloring table for kids
- Pumpkin painting
- Cake for everyone
- Pizza from Conshohocken Italian Bakery and additional food
- Firetrucks
Lochel's was founded in 1942 in Philadelphia. The family bakery moved to Warminster and Levittown before a 1995 Labor Day fire brought the operation to Hatboro that November.

The bakery is known for its George Washington Cake, German Apple Cake, Bee Cake, and Springerle Cookies.
