Boil Water Advisory Lifted In Horsham

Update: it's now safe to drink the water in Horsham, officials announced.

HORSHAM, PA — It's now safe to drink the water in Horsham, officials announced, following the results of a laboratory analysis released on Saturday afternoon.

The boil water advisory is due to a malfunction in the disinfection system at one of the operating wells. Residents were required to use boiled or bottled water for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation while the boil advisory was in effect.

Officials released the following statement on Saturday:

"Based on the test results received today you no longer need to boil water for consumption. Please know that throughout this advisory there was no confirmed contamination of the public water distribution system. The Boil Water Advisory was issued as a precaution. Although not required, we are suggesting you run your faucet for approximately one minute. There are no other instructions for you to do to start using the water again."

The Hatboro-Horsham School District, along with several local bars and restaurants, were forced last week after the advisory was announced.
