Chimney Fire Reported In Horsham Township
Horsham ChATs said a chimney fire happened Monday night at a Rutledge Avenue home.
HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —A fast response by fire crews helped keep a fire Monday night contained to just the chimney, authorities said.
Horsham Community Police Services said the Horsham Township Fire Department had three calls for service on Monday night, including two alarm calls on the 1400 block of Horsham Road.
The third call was for a chimney fire at 7:18 p.m. Monday on the 900 block of Rutledge Avenue, Horsham ChATs said.

"Due to the quick work of our fire company and mutual aid partners, the damage was limited to only the chimney," Horsham ChATs said.
Horsham ChATs said The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends annual chimney inspections by a certified technician to ensure safe operation.

The recommendations include:
- Frequency: Inspect your chimney annually, even if you haven't used it recently.
- Inspection levels: The NFPA outlines three levels of inspection in its code NFPA 211.
- Level 1: Used to verify that a chimney or flue is suitable for continued service. This level of inspection is typically conducted during annual inspections or routine flue cleaning.
- Level 2: Required when there are changes to the system, such as a change in fuel type, flue shape, or material, or the addition or replacement of an appliance. This level of inspection is also required after a malfunction or external event, such as a building fire, chimney fire, seismic event, or weather event.
- Level 3: Recommended when a level one or level two inspection suggests a hidden hazard that requires special tools to access.
