Cigarette Causes Grass Fire In Hatboro, Officials Say
The Enterprise Fire Company said a cigarette mixed with dry brush to cause a fire Wednesday.

HATBORO, PA —A tossed cigarette is to blame for a grass fire on Wednesday in the borough, fire officials said.
The Enterprise Fire Company responded Wednesday to a grass fire that was called in by a passerby who saw smoke.
A cigarette mixed with dry brush is what caused the fire, officials said. The fire company did not say where or when the fire took place on Wednesday.

With the dry, hot conditions the region has experienced, the fire company is offering safety tips on how to avoid outdoor fires:
- Avoid leaving outdoor grills unattended.
- Keep flammable materials away from heat sources.
- Don't throw lit cigarettes out of a vehicle.
- Dispose of smoking materials properly.
- Remove dead plants, bushes, long grass, and weeds around your home.
- Check recently burned piles for flare-ups.
- Have a fire extinguisher, water supply, hose, or bucket of water nearby.
- Make sure your fire extinguisher is working, and know how to use it.
