Community Service - ARD - Youth Aid Panel - in Horsham

Horsham Preservation and Historical Association is an approved non-profit for community service obligations

The Horsham Preservation and Historical Association (HPHA), like most community benefit organizations, does much of its work with the help of volunteers, and one of the many benefits HPHA brings to the community is that they are an approved and long-time non-profit participant in the Montgomery County Community Service programs. (Of course HPHA also welcomes volunteers who just want to help out too!)

The various Community Service programs require participants to perform some number of volunteer hours at an approved non-profit as part of their rehabilitation for minor offenses. HPHA is an approved non-profit and has been a part of these programs since 2008.

These programs include:

Community Service hours assigned through these programs can be completed with HPHA

Executive Director Pete Choate – who was recognized by the Montgomery County Youth Aid Panel for outstanding service – said “Those who have worked with us through the program have helped the organization in numerous ways around the c1721 Penrose-Strawbridge Farm restoration - from cutting grass to felling trees, helping at events, and special projects like building doors and repairing masonry.”

Service obligations under this program with HPHA are performed at the Penrose-Strawbridge Farm which is being restored by the organization. The 102 acre farm is located in Horsham Township next to historic Graeme Park on County Line Road and is recognized as a contributing asset to the National Historic Landmark Sir William Keith House at Graeme Park.

HPHA holds community service days Tuesdays and Saturdays, with some other days, depending on special circumstances, that are open to individuals placed in the Community Service program. If you have been specifically assigned to HPHA or have obligations under a Community Service program and would like to fulfill those obligations with us - please contact us.

HPHA also welcomes all volunteers: those interested in history, restoration, organizing events, students and scouts with volunteer requirements, and anyone interested in helping out!
