​Crooked Billet Elementary Farwell for Now June 9, 2018

Join classmates, friends and faculty for a celebration of the school's history and its exciting future

Farewell for Now marks a pivotal point for Crooked Billet Elementary School. On Saturday, June 9, 2018, former and current students, faculty and the community are invited to convene at the school to celebrate its rich history, reflect on the many relationships and traditions that have been cultivated at the school and view the plans and exciting opportunities that will be available at the newly constructed Crooked Billet slated for completion in 2020. Farewell for Nowis a celebration of Crooked Billet’s history and its future. At 9:00 A.M. on June 9, Crooked Billet will open its doors to attendees to share memoires, reconnect with old friends and teachers and learn more about the state-of-the-art school that is being planned for the site.

Crooked Billet Principal Kelli Sendel said, “Those who’ve attended Crooked Billet know that it is more than a building, it is an experience that is shaped by traditions, history and connections. Although the current facility will be gone and replaced by one that better accommodates 21st century education, our traditions, history and connections will endure and will form the heart and soul of the new school.”

Farewell for Now encourages participants to share their Crooked Billet memories and commit them to paper, which will be incorporated into a display at the new Crooked Billet. Sendel encourages everyone connected to Crooked Billet to participate in the event, which will includes alumni photography sessions and creating memory sheets.

An Overview of Events

Visitors should plan to arrive as early as 9:00 a.m. and the event runs until noon on Saturday, June 9. Although there is no formal program, several events have been scheduled.

Alumni and former staff interested in being photographed with their classmates and colleagues, should plan to attend the following photo sessions:

Alumni from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s- 9:30 A.M.

Retired Crooked Billet staff - 9:45 A.M.

Alumni from the 1980s and 1990s- 10 A.M.

Alumni from the 2000s - 10:30 A.M.

Current staff and students - 11 A.M.

At 10:15 A.M., Crooked Billet students will gather to sing the school song.

Memory sheets can be completed throughout the morning and visitors are invited to bring photos to attach to the memory sheet. The photos will not be returned.

A videographer with the Hatboro-Horsham television station will be based in the library to record short clips of visitors sharing their favorite Crooked Billet memories. All are welcome to stop by between the hours of 9 A.M. and noon.

Student art work from years past will be displayed in the hallways. Former students who recognize their works of art are welcome to take the piece with them.
