Crooked Billet Weekend Features Hatboro History Fair
The first Crooked Billet History Fair, dedicated to a Revolutionary War skirmish, takes place Saturday in Hatboro.

HATBORO, PA —It's Crooked Billet weekend.
The Millbrook Society —Hatboro's historical society —will host the first Crooked Billet History Fair on Saturday at the Pennypack Community Center on Spring Avenue.
The fair, dedicated to the Revolutionary War battle, takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The fair features more than two dozen local historical organizations from around Montgomery and Bucks counties. They will bring artifacts, maps, and other items that will interest history buffs of all ages.
The fair also includes indoor and outdoor activities and displays, weather permitting, a historical puppet show, demonstrations, presentations, and the opportunity to discuss history with members of the groups dedicated to promoting and preserving the region's rich heritage.

The presentation schedule includes:
- 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. —Glencarln Stained Glass program
- 11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. —The Walls Have Ears (Puppet Stage)
- 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. —Privateering During the Revolution
- 1 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. —The Walls Have Ears (Puppet Stage)
- 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. —The History of the Johnsville Naval Air Development Center
The Battle of Crooked Billet was fought on May 1, 1778, near the Crooked Billet Tavern, which is present-day Hatboro. British forces launched a surprise attack in the skirmish against Pennsylvania militia, who had to retreat to Bucks County.
Among the vendors are the Union Library of Hatboro, Old York Road Historical Society, Millbrook Society, Friends of NE Philly History, GAR Museum (NE Philly), Delaware Valley Civil War Roundtable, Cheltenham Township Historical Commission, Upper Moreland Historical Association, Warrington Historical Society, Glencaln Museum, Warminster High School, William Tennent Foundation, American War of Independence Privateer Museum, Moland House, Craven Hall Historical Society, Ivyland Heritage Association, Johnsville Centrifuge and Science Museum, Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds, Enterprise Fire Company, Wissahickon Valley Historical Society, Bucks County Civil War Library and Museum, Bucks County Genealogical Society, Hope Lodge, Historical Society of Fort Washington, Newtown Historical Association, and Pennypack Questers.
