CVS Apartment Plan Decision Delayed In Hatboro
The developer of the dormant South York Road property will not appear for a second review before the Hatboro Planning Commission on Tuesday.

HATBORO, PA —All of those questions about the façade, parking, lighting, landscaping, and electric vehicles will have to wait.
When the Hatboro Planning Commission meets Tuesday night, the next steps regarding the first proposal by a developer under the borough's mixed-use Town Center Ordinance won't be on the agenda.
Developers 24-28 South York Road Associates, LP, presented the planning commission with plans to develop the long-dormant CVS property on South York Road as a four-story building with 36 "high-end, professional" apartments and retail space on the first floor.

That proposal was met with some pushback by residents who said the sleek façade shown during the meeting in an artist's rendering does not meet Hatboro's heritage.
Borough officials did not say why CVS was not appearing before the planning board this month. But officials did post late Monday on Facebook that it is expected to return for the Oct. 10 meeting.

Residents also expressed issues with the number of parking spots and how many would be taken away by electric vehicles. There were also questions regarding lighting and landscaping around the building as well.
While CVS is not on the agenda, another developer's plans for apartments and retail will first be revealed to the public.
The developers of vacant properties at 21-23/37 North York Rd. where the old diner used to be has submitted plans, which will be reviewed by the planning commission Tuesday night.
In late January, the Hatboro Borough Council approved a mixed-use ordinance for a section of York Road after a public hearing of 50 people.
The ordinance allows developers to make proposals that could see building heights go to 60 feet provided they meet certain guidelines, meaning that the downtown district could have taller buildings and apartments.
The option allows for buildings along York Road —from Byberry Road to Montgomery Avenue —to be taller than the current 35 feet allowed.
All plans need final approval by the Hatboro Borough Council.
