CVS Property Demolition Begins In Hatboro
Hatboro officials said the demolition of the York Road building may take two weeks. The property is being considered for development.

HATBORO, PA —The demolition of the old CVS property has begun.
Borough officials were notified Tuesday afternoon by the contractor of the CVS demolition on York Road that work would begin Wednesday and may take two weeks to complete.
Contractors will begin demolishing the second floor of the building first, followed by the first floor, and will use a combination of machinery and demolition by hand at the property at 24-28 S. York Road., officials said.

During demolition hours, a construction fence will remain out to the curb for safety purposes.
All parking meters will be bagged outside of the location and contractor personnel will be in place to direct pedestrians around the sidewalk closure.

Borough officials said signage will also be in place to alert pedestrians of the sidewalk closure during hours of construction. When construction is not taking place, the construction fence will be moved closer to the building so pedestrians can utilize the sidewalk.
The contractor will closely monitor all trash and debris removal closely to keep York Road free of any construction materials. They have also assured the borough "that safety is of the utmost importance" and that they will work with residents and business owners to resolve any issues.
While the CVS property is being demolished, new construction will not be taking place at this time.
The developer —24-28 South York Road Associates, LP —wants to build retail and apartments under the borough's new Town Center Ordinance at the CVS property, which has been vacant for more than a decade.
The developer is still going through their conditional use and land development process and has not received any approvals for construction at the location.
The developer appeared before the Hatboro Planning Commission last month. The developer then said it would review and revise its plans and return to the board at a later date.
Borough officials said the developer hopes to resubmit plans in time for the May planning commission meeting, which takes place at 7 p.m. on May 9.
Residents and business owners are encouraged to attend the meeting to provide comments and feedback on the proposed CVS property development and all other developments as applications are submitted.
The owner of the CVS property is permitted with proper approvals for the demolition project.
In late January, the Hatboro Borough Council approved a mixed-use ordinance for a section of York Road from Byberry Road to Montgomery Avenue.
The ordinance allows developers to make proposals that could see building heights go to 60 feet provided they meet certain guidelines, meaning that the downtown district could have taller buildings and apartments.
