Destructive 3-Alarm Horsham Fire Injures Cop, 2 Residents

Multiple residents were displaced by the blaze, which rapidly spread to several homes in Horsham early Friday morning.

HORSHAM, PA -- A three-alarm fire in the early morning hours Friday in Horsham left two residents and a police officer injured while causing serious damage to multiples homes.

The incident began at around 3 a.m. on the 600 block of Manor Drive, according to authorities.

The fire began in one of the townhomes in the residential area and rapidly grew, spreading to four homes, officials said.

A Horsham police officer suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Another resident was rushed to the hospital by helicopter with serious injures, officials said. His condition is not yet known.

At least one other resident suffered injuries, while a total of five residents had to be evacuated from the homes on Manor Drive, authorities said.

The blaze was brought under control within two hours, as firefighters were able to prevent the powerful flames from spreading to nearby buildings.

Delays and road closures should be expected in the area Friday.

"In short, this tragic fire could have been much worse," Horsham Community Police Services wrote of the incident.

The Horsham Department of Emergency Management and the American Red Cross are working to care for the individuals displaced by the blaze.

No cause has been announced for the fire. The Horsham Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the incident.

The Horsham Fire Company was assisted by several local mutual aid partners on the scene.
