HATBORO, PA —A developer has received approval for a zoning change for several North York Road properties so it could utilize the new town center ordinance.

The ordinance allows developers to make proposals that could see building heights go to 60 feet provided they meet certain guidelines, meaning that the downtown district could have taller buildings and apartments.
The option allows for buildings along York Road —from Byberry Road to Montgomery Avenue —to be taller than the current 35 feet allowed.
A developer is trying to revive the dormant CVS property on York Road. But after appearing before the planning commission recently, 24-28 South York Road Associates, LP said it would be reviewing and revising its plans for the York Road property that has been vacant for more than a decade.
