Off-Duty Montgomery County Cop Helps Rescue Heart-Attack Victim
A police officer is never truly off-duty.

A Limerick police officer was off duty and at the Fraternal Order of Police conference in Pittsburgh this weekend when duty called.
Officer Chris Wienczek was standing right behind a retired police officer at the conference when the retired man collapsed from an apparent heart attack.
Another officer began CPR, and Wienczek, thinking quick on his feet, grabbed an AED unit that was nearby and administered a shock to the patient.

The AED revived the man, and he was taken to a nearby hospital by paramedics.
Reaction to Wienczek’s heroics spread across social media.

“ That’s something that most people don’t realize,” said Lynn-Marie Nicoletta. ”Even when a police officer is out of uniform and off duty they are still working.”
The family of the man who suffered the heart attack also expressed their gratitude.
“Thank you with all my heart Chris,” said Cristine Hatch, the victim’s daughter. “You and others helped save my dads life.”
