Earth Day Mantra Backed Up In Horsham Township
Horsham Township officials listed several accomplishments in protecting and preserving the environment.

HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —"Preserving and Protecting the Planet."
That is the mantra in Horshaip Township and that was the message township officials touted for Earth Day last week by listing numerous accomplishments honoring its commitment.
The township said its accomplishments include:

- Retrofitting Detention Basins: (Witmer Road Last year; Forrester Road and Whetstone Basins this year) – Addressing water quality and quantity resulting in the slowing down of stormwater flow and allowing it to infiltrate the soil, benefiting trees and shrubs in the process while also improving the downstream conditions for landowners.
- Preservation of Pennypack Farm: ensures that this valuable piece of land, 30 acres; remains untouched by development. Pennypack Creek stabilization at Dresher and Horsham Road intersection.
- Installation of Electrical Vehicle Charging Stations: Located at The Horsham Township Building and The Horsham Library, we make access easy for EV owners and promote the use of clean and sustainable transportation options.
- Installation of LED Street Lights: The township was one of the first municipalities in Southeastern Pennsylvania to convert all of our street lights and traffic signals to LED.
- Tree plantings and Tree Give Away Programs: Nearly 1,000 trees planted in the township with our Tree Plantings in parks and open spaces and The Tree Give Away.
- Bird Town: Designated in 2023; Horsham Township is recognized as a community that promotes community-based conservation actions to create a healthier, more sustainable environment for birds, wildlife, and people.
