From 5-9 p.m., you can order a burrito and show the post below or just let your server know you're supporting the cause. If you do, 33% of the proceeds from your order will go to Keith Valley Middle School's seventh-grade class.

Seventh-graders at the middle school have been working since the 2015-16 school year to raise funds for South Sudan. They've read "A Long Walk to Water," by Linda Sue Park. The short novel, based on a true story, details South Sudan's struggles with civil war, extreme poverty and ecological degradation.

The students formed Wishing For Wells and have worked on various fundraisers each year. In March 2018, students were informed that a well that they had sponsored through their early efforts had been dug.

In January 2017, the Committee on Teaching About the United Nations, an organization whose aim is to provide educators worldwide with opportunities to learn about the work of the U.N. and raise awareness about its goals and activities, recognized Keith Valley students at the Conference at the United Nations in New York for their efforts.
