What are the top issues currently facing your position and how do you plan to address them?
The focus over the past three years has been to rebuild Hatboro-Horsham District, and that work is ongoing. When my colleagues and I were first elected in 2019, the district’s scores and rankings had been dropping for about 10 years, the teachers’ contract had expired, and the long-time superintendent was retiring.
We have hired a fantastic administrative team who have worked with the school board hand in hand to improve the district through policy and curriculum adoption. We have also improved the district’s relationship with the teachers and recently approved a three-year new contract.
Hatboro-Horsham is a wonderful community and a premier school district, and we will continue to work so that every one of our students', families', and employees’ experiences reflects that.
Identify specific goals or ideas you have to enhance life in your position:
As a school board member, it is important to be engaged and informed in matters involving our district as well as issues affecting public education more broadly.
Through research, I will continue to stay up to date on current topics impacting public education. I will also continue to communicate with our administrative team on a daily basis and attend all of our committee meetings so I am well informed on all matters facing the district and focus on improving the education opportunities for our students while being a good steward of taxpayer dollars.
What in your experience or background prepares you for election to office?
As a human resources professional, I am well-versed in relationship building and fiscal responsibility. As an incumbent school board member and the current board president, I have experience in governing the district. I hope to continue to have the support of the community and I am excited to keep moving HHSD forward.
