1. What are the top issues currently facing your position and how do you plan to
address them?

One of the top issues facing School Directors involves ensuring excellence in teaching and learning, and that the District is providing a safe, healthy, welcoming environment for all of its students. I am addressing this by actively participating in equity work, curriculum development, professional development, safety and mental health matters, and policies that will enable each student to achieve their potential.

Another issue is the consistent need to dispel rumors, misinformation, and disinformation that is spread regarding the work of the District and the Board of Directors. I am addressing this issue by persistently and honestly reporting on board committee activities, providing more opportunities for community engagement, encouraging the District’s clear statement of what is taught and why it is being taught, and a clear statement of how it reaches its decisions.

2. Identify specific goals and ideas you have to enhance life in your position:

I plan to continue my active role in curriculum development, mental health, individualization of instruction, excellence in teaching and learning, and transparency. I am specifically encouraging updating the District’s website to make it more easily maneuverable for parents and others in the community to find information about curriculum and policies that affect the students directly.

3. What in your experience or background prepares you for election to office?

I’ve devoted my entire adult life to the education of children as a classroom teacher, a developer of multi-disciplinary curriculum, and a coordinator, with experience in personalized instruction and mobile devices. I was a teacher of teachers and literacy specialists as an adjunct professor of curricular technology. Education is my passion. I am a good listener and communicator, and I care deeply about honesty and integrity.
