Upper Moreland Historical Commission Historic Sites Trolley Tour

Ride an authentic Victorian era trolley as local historian Dr. Millie Wintz guides you on a tour of some of Willow Grove’s most significant points of interest. Our Tri-Centennial Celebration Trolley Tour will take you past many of the beautiful homes on the UM Historical Commission’s Inventory Property List, in addition to other areas and sites significant to the rich history of Willow Grove and Upper Moreland Township.

Dr. Wintz will recount tales of Willow Grove dating back to King Charles II and William Penn in 1681 and stories of founding figures like Nicholas More, W.W. Frazier, and Isaac Boileau. Also, learn how Willow Grove, originally called Round Meadow, was once known for its mineral springs (which you can still hear running today) and as a resort town. In the days of Willow Grove Park, it was widely known as “The Music Capital of America”. Today, Willow Grove still boasts being home to the “highest point in Montgomery County”!

This Willow Grove Tri-Centennial event is FREE and will take place rain or shine.
