HATBORO, PA —The borough will hold a fundraiser Saturday to benefit the family of a police officer whose home was destroyed in a fire last month.

Sgt. Alex Bruckner's home caught fire on June 1, burning down in six minutes.

Bruckner, his wife, three young children, mother-in-law, and the family pet were unharmed. But the home and all belongings were a complete loss, leaving them with virtually nothing, borough officials said.

Bruckner has served with the police department since December 2010. He is a decorated U.S. Army veteran, serving two tours in Iraq in 2005 and 2007.

Two fundraisers had been set up to help Bruckner and his family.

One is the Montgomery County Hero Fund where 100 percent of the proceeds go directly to the family. Click here to donate to that fund.

A GoFundMe page was created by Amanda Karns, who is organizing the fundraiser on behalf of Bruckner as well.
