Gunfire Causes Lock-Out At Hatboro-Horsham Schools, Arrest Made: Officials

No one was injured after reported gunfire near the Power Line Trail caused Simmons Elementary and the high school to lock-out, police said.

HORSHAM, PA — A suspect was arrested after gunfire caused two Horsham schools to go into lock-out on Thursday, officials said.

Police responded to reports of gunfire near the Power Line Trail on Thursday morning, according to the Horsham Chief's Advisory Team (ChATs). As a precaution, both Hatboro-Horsham High School and Simmons Elementary School were on lock-out, said officials.

"There were no reported injuries due to this incident and no immediate threat to the community," said Horsham ChATs.

Officials said a suspect is in custody as of 1:19 p.m. Thursday.

The school district said it would follow normal procedures for dismissal Thursday, but said there would be no outdoor activities for the remainder of the day.

"Additional staff have been allocated to Simmons and the High School to assist with dismissal," the district said in a social media post at 12:31 p.m. "We remain in contact with Horsham Police regarding this incident and any other concerns."
