Hatboro Bank Robber Has Different Version Of Events From Shooter: Report

The man who allegedly robbed the Hatboro TD Bank on July 8 before being shot by a Hatboro councilman is disputing the councilman’s version of events, according to a report in the Bucks County Courier Times.

The shooter, George Forgeng, 60, said that he chased Kevin Philip-Johnson Way, 30 for a quarter of a mile into a parking lot, calling for Way to stop.

Way finally stopped in a parking lot, according to Forgeng, and began walking towards Forgeng. That’s when Forgeng shot him twice, in the arm and the hand.

Way was not armed. And he claims he did not threaten Forgeng or move towards him.

“He stopped and put his hands up and said, ‘don’t shoot me,’ ” Way’s attorney, public defender William Reilly told the Bucks County Courier Times. “He made no threats (to Forgeng.)“

Way confessed to robbing the bank.

The charges against him have been downgraded from felony theft to attempted theft because he only stole $468, according to reports.

Way’s trial is scheduled for September 2 in Norristown, the report states.

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s office has still not announced if any charges will be filed against Forgeng.
