Hatboro To Honor 2017 Community Heroes

Hatboro's 'Service to the Community' awards honor individuals who have devoted themselves unselfishly to the borough.

HATBORO, PA -- Hatboro's 'Service to the Community' awards honor individuals who have devoted themselves unselfishly to the borough. The Hatboro Chamber of Commerce will recognize those individuals at a special ceremony, scheduled for March 4.

The 2017 Borough Ball awards will be held at the Spring Mill Country Club in Ivyland on March 4 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The year's theme is "Hats off to Hatboro."

“Our 2017 award winners will be honored for distinguished service to the Borough of Hatboro characterized by steadfast and unselfish devotion to our community,” said Borough Ball Awards Committee Chairman Robert M. John, in a press release. “We are grateful for their hard work and dedicated efforts as they contribute immeasurably to the growth and stability of our borough and surrounding communities. And, we want to thank everyone who nominated a candidate for these prestigious awards."

According to the Chamber, the following citizens will be recognized:

*The “Service to Community” Award will be presented to Beverly Lutz, whose faithful service to Hatboro and the Union Library has greatly enriched the quality of life in the borough. In existence since 1755, “The Union Library Company of Hatborough” is the second oldest library still operating under its original charter in the state of Pennsylvania.

*The “Service to Youth” Award will be presented to Kim Rubenstein, for her untiring devotion to our community through the development and direction of the program “be a part of the CONVERSATION”, which addresses the impact of addiction on young people. She is a former marketing manager and member of the board of the Hatboro Horsham Educational Foundation.

The “Service to Public” Award will be presented to Borough Manager Alfred Zollers, who energetically directs a full range of municipal activities and services for Hatboro. He is the former chief of the Enterprise Fire Company, and is currently the deputy fire chief.

*The “Service to Business” Award will be presented to Kathleen Salemno, executive board secretary for the Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce. Her dedication to working with area businesses by organizing activities and events that promote the vitality of all segments of the community. She is a member of the Rotary Club of Hatboro, and she is also on the board of the ACF Philadelphia Delaware Valley Chefs Association and Hatboro Area YMCA.
