Hatboro Honors Lifesaving Efforts By Police, Paramedics
Commendations were given out at Hatboro Borough Council's meeting to the five involved in saving a resident's life last March.

HATBORO, PA —The call came in for a medical emergency. Someone had fainted and was unresponsive.
Deputy Police Chief Mark Ruegg and Police Officer Angel Figueroa sprung into action. They began performing CPR and delivered a shock utilizing an AED in the March 2022 incident.
EMT Kim Garrett, Paramedic Mike Smaltini, and Paramedic Jordan Costick of Second Alarmers Rescue Squad also arrived and began providing care to the individual alongside the Hatboro Police Department. It turned out that the resident had gone into cardiac arrest.

"The efforts of the Hatboro Police Department and Second Alarmers ultimately saved the resident's life," Police Chief James Gardner and Mayor Tim Schultz said in presenting commendations to all involved at the Hatboro Borough Council's Feb. 27 meeting. "The Borough is extremely proud of these individuals for their lifesaving efforts."
Gardner also thanked Hatboro Federal Savings for providing the AED defibrillators that were used during the medical emergency.

"The life wouldn't have been saved without had it not been for Hatboro Federal Savings," the chief said.
