Hatboro-Horsham Back To School Guide 2015: Things To Know

Summer is quickly vanishing, and much to the dread of many children, it’s time to go back to school.

The Hatboro-Horsham School District is off to a late start this year, and will kick off classes the day after Labor Day, on Tuesday, September 8.

The Hatboro Police Department issued a special alert regarding community safety as the school year prepared to launch:

While we encourage motorists to drive carefully at all times, that special time of year when schools open is upon us. Motorists are reminded to be alert for school buses stopping to pick up and discharge students.

The PA Vehicle Code Section 3345 relating to meeting or overtaking a school bus provides for heavy fines and penalties, including a suspension of ones driver’s license upon conviction.

Please be alert for school crossings and obey crossing guards and special speed restrictions that may be posted in these areas.

Several streets near Hatboro schools have “do not enter” restrictions during school drop-off and pick-up times, police said. The list of those streets includes:

• S. Chester Avenue X W. Lehman Avenue and Spring Avenue
• Windsor Avenue
• Lancaster Avenue X Summit Avenue and Meadowbrook Avenue
• N. Penn Street X Summit Avenue and Meadowbrook Avenue
• Meadowbrook Avenue X Windsor Avenue and BonAir Avenue
• BonAir Avenue X Summit Avenue and Meadowbrook Avenue

In the meantime, don’t forget to refresh yourself on school bus laws and safety.
