Over the past two years the Hatboro Horsham Hawks youth football club has expanded its program offerings to include the popular NFL Flag Football league for youth players in the spring. The non-contact, co-ed football league has been incredibly successful in its initial seasons; so much so, that the club is now further expanding the program with a fall season that will include two flag football leagues for co-ed players ages 5-to-6 and 7-to-8.

“The response has been fantastic,” explained Matt Powers, a coach for the Hawks’ NFL Flag Football league. “NFL Flag Football has provided a great option for kids to get introduced to the sport, while also giving a fantastic opportunity for players who wouldn’t typically experience traditional football to get involved. The kids and coaches have really had a blast, so we knew expanding it to the fall season made a lot of sense for our club and the community.”

The Hawks’ flag football league, sanctioned by the National Football League, will provide two age divisions with competitively balanced teams in a 5-on-5 game format. This format allows players to try a variety of positions on the field. Players do not have to reside in the Hatboro-Horsham school district to participate in the Hawk's flag football league and are welcome to register.

For each league players will typically have one practice and one game per week. Practices will generally take place on Tuesday or Thursday evenings with games on Saturdays between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. Games will consist of two 25-minute halves and all sessions will take place at Worthington Field off Lower State Road in Horsham.

Registration for the fall season is open now for $90, which includes an NFL flag jersey and flag belt for your player. Practices are scheduled to begin at the end of August with games commencing on September 7 and running through November 2.
