Hatboro-Horsham Hosts Special Olympics

HORSHAM, PA -- The Special Olympics are coming to Hatboro-Horsham High School.
The district is hosting the event on Monday, May 23.
A total of 12 local school districts will send students to compete.

There has been an overwhelming community response to the event. Hatboro-Horsham said that more than 400 students and 30 teachers will participate in the event as volunteers.
"We are excited about this event and eager to show the rest of the county how Hatboro-Horsham High School can help awaken the world to the precious abilities and dignity of every human being," the school district said in a statement.

Local police and ambulance services will also offer volunteer assistance.
The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, the district said.
Hatboro-Horsham HS is located on 899 Horsham Road in Horsham.
