Hatboro-Horsham Schools Awarded State STEM Grant

Several Hatboro-Horsham schools have received STEM grants thanks to the PAsmart initiative.

HORSHAM, PA — Several Hatboro-Horsham schools have received STEM grants thanks to the PAsmart initiative.

The grants, worth up to $35,000, were awarded to several area school districts, including Hatboro-Horsham, Council Rock, Central Bucks, Neshaminy, Palisades and more. (See full list here)

The following Hatboro-Horsham schools will utilize the grant funds, the state announced:

  • Blair Mill Elementary School
  • Crooked Billet
  • Hallowell Learning Community
  • Keith Valley Middle School
  • Pennypack Elementary School
  • Simmons Elementary School

The PAsmart initiative was launched by Gov. Tom Wolf in response to a future demand for STEM jobs. The state has made available $30 million that will be awarded as grants aimed to "strategically invest" in education and workforce development.

According to the Department of Education, the grants will expand classroom instruction and professional development in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), and computer science (CS), as well as training for in-demand careers, emerging industries, and underserved populations.

The state Department of Education estimates that 300,000 STEM jobs will be available in Pennsylvania by 2026.
