Hatboro-Horsham Student Elves Are Designing and Building Toys for Tots
Hatboro-Horsham students make Toys for Tots

Every year Hatboro-Horsham High School Technology Education Teacher Nick Pompei and his Manufacturing & Engineering students brainstorm a unique toy to design and build for their class project. The completed toys are donated to Toys for Tots. Since 2007, the students have been coming up with functional and elaborate ideas. This year, the class is already hard at work building toys to deliver to children during the holidays.
Since October students have been using their skills, imaginations and 3D printers to create holiday surprises for area children, which include game boards that are reversible. There are two versions: a chalkboard & chess/checkerboard game and a ‘puck it’ game with chess/checkers on the other side.
Pompei’s classes look forward to this project. Over the past eight years, his students have donated well over 100 custom made toys and games to local children, including foosball tables, slap hockey, paper football tables, shuffleboard-style games and much more.
