Horsham Among Nation's Safest Cities: Report

HORSHAM, PA — SafeWise, a website that tracks home security and safety statistics and resources, ranked Horsham the 73rd-safest city in the country in 2019.

The ranking is part of SafeWise's "100 Safest Cities in America 2019" list, which was created using FBI data.

Pennsylvania did well overall, with 10 cities making the list of 100. That was good for third place, behind New Jersey, with 30 cities on the list, and Connecticut with 14.

According to SafeWise, 70 percent of the cities that made the list are located in the Northeast.

The list took into account violent crime rate and property crime rate per 1,000 residents.

Horsham had 0.262 violent crimes per 1,000 residents and 5.276 property crimes per 1,000 residents, according to the data. With a listed 26,723 residents, Horsham has a median income of $94,424, according to the site.

Ninety-three percent of the cities on the list reported fewer than 10 total violent crimes, and 70 cities had fewer than 200 property crimes.

The list indicates a correlation between median income and low crime, with 59 percent having a median income over $100,000. Only two cities on the list had a median income below the national average of $57,652.
