Horsham-based Camp Selects New Executive Director

Non-profit executive, public school educator and fundraising professional Rob Kutzik joins the College Settlement of Philadelphia.

Rob Kutzik recently joined the College Settlement of Philadelphia as its sixth executive director in the organization’s more than 125-year history.

Kutzik, of Mount Laurel, N.J., took the reins of the 235-acre camps on Witmer Road in Horsham Township as executive director on Feb. 16 from Interim Executive Director, Chris Weinrich. The day and overnight summer camps and year-round environmental education program are nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations.

As a fundraising professional with the Philadelphia Education Fund, Kutzik helped raise more than $1 million in a little over a year. This, along with 16 years with the MICROSOCIETY organization in many positions and most recently as senior vice president, gives him the experience the Board of Trustees was looking for in a new executive director.

Chairman of the Board Ralph McDevitt believes Mr. Kutzik will be a dynamic leader for the organization, creating partnerships in the greater Philadelphia community and working as a relationship builder with the camp’s board, staff and community partners.

An elementary and middle school teacher for the School District of Philadelphia for six years, Kutzik was selected to a district-wide committee to review standards and design a new multi-disciplinary curriculum.

Kutzik believes in the transformational experience that camping and the outdoors can have on a young person from his first-hand experience as an executive with the Boy Scouts of America.

While earning his Bachelor of Arts degree from Temple University, Kutzik worked in after school and summer camping programs. He received a Masters of Education from Arcadia University in 1991. In addition to Kutzik’s education and well-rounded nonprofit experience, he is also an accomplished songwriter and musician.
