Horsham Black Bear Had Been Shot Before Euthanization

The bear had shotgun wounds and was also shot several times with BB pellets before state officials euthanized him.

A black bear that was euthanized in Horsham last week after authorities said he had a broken leg was later found to have numerous shotgun wounds, officials from the Pennsylvania Game Commission told The Intelligencer.

The bear, spotted outside the Wawa in Horsham Friday on 611 near County Line Road, was euthanized after authorities determined it had a broken leg from being hit by a car.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission told The Intelligencer that an investigation revealed the bear had “hundreds” of pellets from shotgun wounds under its skin and was also shot several times with BB pellets before being put down by state officials.
