Horsham Man Charged After Hitting Pedestrian While DUI, Police Say
Vernon Griffis, 55, of Cedar Avenue in Horsham is facing several charges in connection with an incident in Aug. 3.

A Horsham motorist who police said was intoxicated when he allegedly injured a pedestrian in Hatboro is facing charges.
Vernon Griffis, 55, of Cedar Avenue in Horsham, is charged with aggravated assault by vehicle, driving under the influence, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault and other offenses in connection with the Aug. 3 incident on Barbara Road. The incident happened around 10 a.m.
According to the Public Spirit, Griffis, who was driving a 2003 Ford F-150, hit a Jeep Patriot that was parked on the street. The impact pushed the car into its owner, a 68-year-old man who was unloading items from the vehicle.

Hermann was transported to Abington Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, police told the Public Spirit.
When police arrived, they said Griffis was showing signs he was under the influence. Griffis was transported to Holy Redeemer Hospital in Abington for a blood test, The Intelligencer reported.

A witness told police she saw Griffis’ truck operating erratically along Meetinghouse, County Line and Blair Mill road before the crash, the Intelligencer reported.
Griffis was arraigned Thursday. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 21, court records show.
